Kuşadası's most famous beach and its most oversold: a one-kilometre bay that is genuinely good before 10:00 and a scrum by noon.

Why it matters
The Turkish name means Women's Sea: under the Ottomans this bay was set aside for women to swim apart from men. The segregation is long gone and the name is all that survives of it. In the resort era the slope behind the sand filled with bars, and Kadınlar Denizi became the centre of Kuşadası's nightlife as much as its swimming — the two audiences now share the same thousand metres.
What to know before you go
No beach in Kuşadası produces such split verdicts. The same bay is described as the best swimming in town and as dirty, crowded and miserable, often in reviews written weeks apart. Both are accurate. They describe different hours. The physical facts are modest and fixed: roughly a kilometre of sand in a shallow bay, close enough to the centre to walk, with cafés and restaurants across the road rather than on the sand. It holds a Blue Flag as one of only four free public beaches in the district to do so — the other twenty-one flags in Kuşadası belong to hotels and holiday villages, which is the clearest single description of how this coast works. It is also the most accessible beach for anyone without a car, which is precisely why it fills. Timing decides the experience completely. Before about 10:00 the water is clear, the sand is open and free loungers are available. By 10:30 the loungers are gone. By midday in July and August the bay is at capacity, and on Sundays domestic visitors from Aydın and İzmir arrive in numbers that overwhelm it. Behind the sand, the slope is Kuşadası's bar district. That matters when choosing a hotel here: this is a nightlife address as much as a swimming one, and it does not go quiet early.
