About Turquosian

Turquosian is an independent editorial project. Every guide, route page and country page passes through the same editorial process before it is published — read, checked against primary sources, and only then signed off. If something on a page looks wrong, there is a person behind it who can be written to — see the contact page.

Research starts wide: official sources (museum and ticketing sites, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, operator timetables, municipal and port authorities), academic and encyclopaedic references, and recent traveller reports. AI research tools are part of that first pass — they draft, compare sources and flag contradictions faster than a person can. They do not decide what is published. Every figure that survives to the page is checked against a primary source before the page is signed off for publication.

Photographs are Wikimedia Commons works used under their licences; the credit and licence sit under every image. Walking times between places come from a measured street-network matrix (OSRM), not from straight lines on a map, and are only printed when the matrix covers the pair and the walk is under forty minutes.

“Verified · Month Year” on a place, a fare table or a country page means: the prices, opening hours, timetables and frequencies printed there were re-checked against operator or official sources on that date. It is a claim about the figures, not about the operator: it is not a safety rating and not an endorsement of any company. Fares are ranges observed on the check date, never live prices.

When something cannot be verified it is left out. Places without a usable photograph, routes with an unconfirmed fare, and partner offers without a live link are not shown as placeholders — they are simply not there yet. Turquosian carries no display advertising and sells no placement. Some booking links are affiliate links: when one is used, the partner may pay us a commission. That does not change what you pay the partner, booking direct with an operator can be cheaper, and where an official seller exists we link it beside the partner.
