Why it matters
Founded as a port settlement in the seventh century BCE, Phaselis used three harbours to build a strong maritime trading role. Its visible Roman and Byzantine remains include an aqueduct, agoras, baths, theatre, and a street joining the bays.
What to know before you go
Phaselis combines archaeology and coast without requiring you to choose between them. Walk the street and aqueduct before settling near a bay; otherwise the beach can easily turn the ruins into background scenery.
The site is roughly an hour from central Antalya before seasonal traffic. Arrive early, carry what you need for both ruins and water, and protect the archaeological remains even when the visit feels like a beach day.
