Perge
Walk a Roman city whose water channel, baths, stadium, and colonnaded streets still read as one plan.

Enough context, no spoilers
Why it matters
Known as Parha in Hittite-period evidence, Perge became one of Pamphylia's major cities. Its Roman streets and sculpture programme were especially ambitious, while finds from the site now shape the collections associated with Antalya Museum.
What to know before you go
Perge rewards sequence. Start with the stadium and theatre area, then enter through the gates and slow down along the colonnaded street. The channel, fountains, baths, and paving explain urban life more clearly together than any isolated ruin.
There is little shade across the main route. An early start protects both your energy and the quality of the visit; save the final wide view for after you understand the street plan.
